Black 'dent', in douglas

Almost quarter sawn douglas is selected to create the simple flowing lines that follow and accentuate the form of this piece. Through sandblasting the growth lines in the wood become not only visible but also 'touchable', they form a relief on the surface of the object.

This artwork is turned on the lathe, sandblasted and then hand painted with multiple layers of ink. Then the piece is finished with a linseed based oil and pigment.
