Unique wall object in lightly spalted maple
Turned on the lathe. A voluptuous form in which the focus is pulled into the centred void (I'd like to think the focus goes into the unknown).
This particular piece comes from a tree that I harvested in Zeeland with a friend. After we felled the tree the trunk laid on the side of the pond for more than a year before I took it to the studio and started the rough work. After a rough blank was made it sat on a studio shelf to dry for another year or so. Now it finally has its form, silently.
It is finished with a white pigment and a linseed based oil. The spalting is seen throughout the object giving it a marble like feel to it.
Wall Sculpture, maple
Size: ca. 31,5 x 31,5 x 12cm
Material: Maple
Finish: pigment and linseed based oil.
Easy to hang, simply on a screw in the wall.
Wood is a wonderful and natural material. It will always change colour over time slightly. Do not place an object in a spot where it will be in direct sunlight, this can result in an unbalanced or too much colour change in the wood.
Can be cleaned with a dry or slightly moist cloth
